Pottery Experiences

You'll find Pottery Experiences taking place every month at Binnie Pottery.  This usually coincides with a theme or event taking place (February - Valentine's Day; March - Mother's Day; April - Easter etc.)  However, please do book onto these, regardless of the event, either as a group or individual - we'd love to have you join us!

We also take private bookings - so if a particular date or weekend isn't convenient, just contact us and we can sort out a date to suit you and your group (min. booking size 4 people).  Your bespoke booking can take a similar form to our monthly Pottery Experiences at the same price - or we can provide you with a completely bespoke event, with lunch or afternoon tea.  Just chat with us!

We hope to help you celebrate the joy of pottery very soon!

How it works:

Come along and play with clay! A relaxing experience where you will be guided and supported when making and decorating your very own pot!

Clay will be prepared and ready for you.  You make your pot, decorate it (using coloured underglazes if you wish) and relax. Pop back and see us 3 weeks later (weather/drying conditions dependent!) and pick up your finished pot!

Each experience will be 2.5 hours in duration, with a nice, relaxed break mid-way for tea, coffee and cake.

Maximum number of participants = 6

£85 per person

Why do I have to wait 3 weeks?

Our studio elves – aka Lisa & Izzy – will be ensuring your pot survives its pottery journey through the studio firing process.  To do this, we first ensure your pot is thoroughly bone dry (to minimise the risk of explosion in the kiln!)  We will bisque fire it in our kiln to just over 1000 degrees celsius, where it will become ceramic. When cooled, we then dip it into a transparent glaze, after which it will return to the kiln for its second firing at over 1200 degrees celsius. The drying, heating up and cooling down of pots all take time and patience, particularly in damp weather conditions, but our priority is always returning your pot (that you’ve lovingly made), back to you in one piece!  It’s so nice to have a memento of your pottery visit!
